Hello,
My name is Boomer. I am a handsome Bengal boy. In July of 2019 I acquired an injury or symptom that no one could diagnose. I went to neurologists, Orthopedics and several veterinarians. My mommy was at her wits end. All I wanted to do was sleep and ignore everyone. I couldn’t even jump. I hear that is not normal for a 6 month old kitten. Mommy was very concerned. A friend of hers mentioned taking me to a chiropractor. My mommy had several doubts but she took me. She talked to Gynger (who thinks I am very handsome) and got us in right away.
So off I went to see Dr. Mathews. His office was very nice. I was slightly nervous and so was Mommy. But as soon as Dr. Mathews came in, I wasn’t afraid. His voice is very soothing. He told my mom about my hips and how it is pinching on my spine. So Dr. Mathews adjusted me and I immediately stood up and stretched my back for the first time in a long time! My Mommy couldn’t stop smiling. I got another adjustment that week and I started to feel much better. I actually wanted to be pet and play and not hide from Mommy and Daddy. After a week I was running around with my big brother with no problem. I visited Dr. Mathews a couple of times more to keep me in check.
Now I am 11 months old and still a handsome boy. I am pouncing, jumping and wrestling with my big brother in no pain . My mommy is so happy. Thank you Dr. Mathews! You are my favorite CATOPRACTOR!!!
Sincerely, Boomer
Dr. Mathews began treating my 12yo miniature dachshund in late November 2018 when her back suddenly gave out and she lost the ability to walk on her hind legs. Up until this point, she’d never had any health problems and her weight has always been perfect, so to say this took me by surprise is an understatement.
After a week of veterinary care with little improvement, we looked into alternative treatments and found Dr. Mathews’ website. I’d never heard of canine chiropractic care, so I was dubious. When I called to ask questions and possibly make an appointment, the receptionist put Dr. Mathews on the phone so I could talk to him directly. I was a MESS: crying, panicky, and talking a mile a minute about all my concerns all at once. He listened patiently and answered my questions and explained that not only is he licensed, he is also one of the very few animal chiropractors who is accredited in the state of Colorado.
When we brought in our little girl, Dr. Mathews watched her walk, examined her, explained thoroughly what was going on and what treatment consists of, then did her first adjustment. Immediately afterward, our dog, who couldn’t even WALK without dragging her back legs behind her, could stand and walk a little more normally and even shake her whole body from her head to the tip of her tail! (Yes, I cried again.) Dr. Mathews instructed us to clip her nails regularly to help her “feel the floor” with her feet and showed us how to stretch her back legs and hip flexors, then we scheduled a follow-up for the next week. By then, she had improved even more! He adjusted her again and gave us another exercise to help her relearn how to turn correctly and gave us a couple more lifestyle changes to help her get even better.
Now we go back once a month, and my dog is almost 100% again! She’s not allowed to jump on or off anything or go up or down stairs without being carried (to prevent future problems) but looking at her now, you’d never know she’d been partially paralyzed. Dr. Mathews does incredible work, and he’s extremely patient, kind, and encouraging to animals and their caregivers alike. I couldn’t be happier with the level of care he provides. The receptionists are friendly and helpful, and the building is always clean and welcoming.
Please do your pets a favor and go see him for preventative care!

Maddie is my 13 y/o flat coat retriever. Since she was 2 months old she has brought so much joy and happiness to my life! Maddie has always been an active dog enjoying swimming, running and playing ball.
Up until the past couple years Maddie loved to play fetch; running at full speed to retrieve the ball and proudly bringing it back; she would’ve played like this all day had I let her! Over recent years she has begun to slow down, which I guess happens to us all at some point; however, as a survivor of Parvo and Cancer, Maddie is a pretty tough girl, so her slowdown was bothersome to me. I noticed that she had developed bulging on her hips and was unable to fully extend her hind legs.
I hadn’t heard of Chiropractic Care for Animals until just recently. I knew the benefits it has for humans, but didn’t consider it could do the same for pets. THEN….I met Dr. Jeff Mathews who treats both people and animals! Dr. Jeff examined Maddie, and then took the time to show me where in her neck, back and hips she was out of alignment and explain how adjusting her can help. I had no idea that she had these issues and was glad he took the time to talk to me. My vet has never mentioned any of this to me.
Maddie was very calm and comfortable with Dr. Jeff during her exam and during the adjustment. Maddie’s adjustments took less than 5 minutes, and after her bulging hips were gone! She started jumping around and even stood on her hind legs (which she has not done in a long time)! I could see and feel the difference in her instantly. Her tail was wagging and I knew she felt better. I just had to take a picture then to capture her smile! The day after treatment we went to the park and it was snowing; she was just like a puppy again, actually jumping to catch snowflakes, running and rolling all over the place!
I attribute all of this to Dr. Jeff! He was very caring and compassionate with my Maddie. Words cannot really express how thankful I am for what he was able to do for her!

My German Shepherd dog Gretchen is suffering from Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). She has been on anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxants, unfortunately with diminishing returns. Dr. Jeff Mathews, a large and small animal chiropractor was highly recommended to me. I took Gretchen to Dr. Mathews for treatment. The results were amazing! She was significantly better with just one adjustment. Her ability to walk improved greatly; she even jumped on my bed for the first time in 6 months!
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by taking your pet suffering from Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) to Dr. Jeff Mathews.
Sincerely, Keith Hays
Tom and I are so grateful not only for the care given to us, but also to our canine companions, Koko and Haje. Haje thinks he is a circus puppy; a rough and tumble kind of guy, running faster than a speeding locomotive across our yard, somersaulting, cutting tight corners, spinning on a dime. He makes us laugh and smile, so full of life and love. About a year ago I noticed him picking up his left hind leg and kind of skipping on our walks. Koko has had two surgeries, one on her knee cap, and one ligament tear, so we are watchful for signs of “oh oh” in our dogs.
Tom had been seeing Dr. Mathews for soft tissue therapy and chiropractic care and he mentioned that “Doc Mathews” was now treating animals, and we thought it might be a good thing if he saw our dogs, especially Haje for this issue.
Dr. Mathews is wonderful with our dogs; He is knowledgeable and intuitive. He knew what was up with Haje, and a few sessions later Haje’s back leg issue much improved, altogether happier and dare I say, “quite well adjusted” enabling him to enjoy the life he loves.
Of course, our whole family now sees Dr. Mathews. He has helped our daughter overcome poor posture and headaches; provided me with immediate relief from a fall, and keeps us all upright instead of uptight. We highly recommend Dr. Mathews and his chiropractic care. Amy, his able assistant, is awesome with our dogs us too! We are so grateful to have found this level of service, knowledge and caring. What a blessing Mathews Chiropractic is in our lives!
